Founded in 1999 on a spectacular piece of the Niagara Escarpment known as the Jordan Bench – Flat Rock Cellars is perched on a gently rolling slope studded with vines. The winery building is a quirky, glass encased, hexagonal masterpiece that‘s distinctive and fun. From there visitors can enjoy our crowning glory, the breathtaking views of the Peninsula and across Lake Ontario to Toronto.
Flat Rock Cellars is nothing if not passionate about winemaking ! The rocks that are the geological foundation of the winery and are found throughout the property are the roots of our Flat Rock Cellars name. Great wines start in the vineyard with low yields, progressive viticulture practices, hand picking and sorting the grapes. The winemaking process continues inside the winery with a unique gravity-flow design and the latest in wine making equipment.
While renowned for its iconic Niagara rieslings, Flat Rock Cellars is so much more - its VQA chardonnay, blended and red wines are now ranked among Niagara's best, showing the unique character of the Jordan Bench terroir.
There are many ways to judge the overall success of a winery - sales, wine awards, visitor traffic, media coverage, word of mouth, wine experiences - but no matter how it's measured, Flat Rock Cellars enjoys considerable success and a loyal following among wine lovers.
